Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of students on how they used social media in language learning. Specifically, this study aimed to identify the benefits of social media as well as the challenges encountered by the students in using these tools. This qualitative phenomenological study was conducted among the 10 BSEd Third Year students of the Davao del Sur State College. Moreover, research showed how social media could make learning more interactive through authentic learning, native speaker engagement, auditory & visual resources and real time practice. Result also pointed out some issues, like distractions, misleading content and overloaded content. Based from the result, it is recommended to for the teachers to guide students on how to choose reliable sources while encouraging critical thinking to avoid inaccurate information.
