Abstract
This study examines the implementation of environmental and food safety criteria within the New Rural Development program in Thien Long Commune, a mountainous border region in Vietnam. Despite significant progress in other areas, challenges persist in meeting environmental standards, particularly in waste management and water quality. The research highlights the need for increased investment in infrastructure, capacity building, and stricter enforcement of environmental regulations. By analyzing the factors influencing the implementation of these criteria, this study provides valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners seeking to promote sustainable rural development in similar contexts.
